The Jury comprised Messrs. J. G. Jones (foreman), M. A. Simces and T. Yeung, while Mr. R. A. D. Forrest sat as Coroner. Sergeant Byren conducted proceedings for the police.
Expert evidence was given by Mr. W. Pryde, of the Bullding Authority's office, who said he was called by the police to inspect the third floor of No. 74 Peel Street on the afternoon of October, za. The balcony was. of concrete and at the front was an L-shaped iron bar. He found a piece of concrete approximately 12 inches long miss- ing and another portion also ap- proximately 12 inches long was cracked, and was liable
to fall into the street on pressure of the hand. He tore this loose plece
off and the rest of the concrete appeared to be sound. At the end where the portion had fallen off It was badly corroded. This
corrosion had come from the iron and it was more the faultiness of the construction than of the con- crete. The corrosion W15, not visible till the portion had fallen oft.
Dr. P. F. S. Court testified that the cause of death of the deceased was. in his opinion, fracture of the skull and arterial haemorr- hage.

It was reported that residents in Chatham Road. Mody Road, and éther roads in the neighbourhood were experiencing an unusually large increase in the numbers of mosquitoes, probably owing to the use of the Marina as a storage ground. It was decided to draw the attention of the Urban Council to the matter.

Sentor Revenue Officer A. W. Grimmitt prosecuted in several oplum cases which came before Mr. R. Edwards at the Central Magistracy yesterday,
Leung Fuk, 34, unemployed, was fined $2,000 or six week's hard labour when he pleaded guilty to possession at Yuen On Wharf on Sunday. The oplum was found concealed round his legs and waist. A coolie *pamed Wong Tung was fined $500 or three months. He had six tacls of the prepared variety concealed in a false. suitcase at the Wing Lok Wharf. ing for the sum of 8700 being balance payable by the defendant to the plaintiff under an agree- ment for the dissolution of the partnership of the Amritsar Store, dated January 3, 1937.
