APOLOGY TO DUKE OF WINDSOR

A Misunderstanding

Paris. Nov. 11.

The Duke of Windsor was invit- ed to witness a parade at Champs Elysees with President Lebrun but expressed a desire to keep the Two Minutes' Bilence at an Eng- lish Church but his attendance was uncertain as the result of cer- tain reports that the Chaplain of St. George's, Canon Dart, had ex- pressed disapproval. Canon Dart stated in the morning that he much regretted the misunders- tanding caused as a result of the unauthorised publication of a statement that he did not want the Duke to attend the Armistice Day service at St. George's and that he was very sorry in the clr- cumstances if the Duke decided not to attend.

After the ceremony Canon Dart said that the last thing in the world he wished to do was to pub- licly insult a man who could not defend himself and added. "I wish to take this opportunity to pub- itely apologise to the Duke.”—- Heuter
