"Evans Of The Broke" Presides At Council Meeting

Admiral Sir Edward R.. G.' R. Evans "Evans of the Broke"), the Rector of Aberdeen Univer- sity presided recently at a meet- ing of the General Counel of the University in Marischal College, Aberdeen, states the "Bulletin." Admiral Evans flew north from Chatham for the meeting, return- ing south by "air,

It was the eighth time a Rector nad taken the chair at a meeting of the Council since its institution In 1860 and the first since 1914, when Andrew Carnegie presided at a special meeting.

Principal W. Hamilton Fyte expressing the "Council's pleasure ut the presence of the Rector: said they were fortunate in hav- ing a rector who commanded not only the sea but also the a'r. He was able to reach them from Chatham in just about the time "IT""book" "them to get to Braemar.

Since the rector had taken unto himself wings, they hoped this precedient would be frequently followed. Applause.)

TRIBUTE TO PHYSICIAN Admiral Evans paid tribute to the memory of Sir, Ashley W. Mackintosh, Emeritus Professor of

Medicine In the University, and Honorary Physician to His Ma- South-Jesty's Household in Scotland.

"Super-Sleuth," which has its run Queen's Theatre to-day, at the with Jack Oakle and Ann ern, in the top roles.

This comedy-thriller brings Oakie to the screen in a "unique vehicle, and offers him one of the meatiest roles in his extensive Alm career. Cast as a conceited film detective who proposes to solve a real-life murder mystery, the co- median breezes through the pic- ture with a trail of laughs, suspense and thrills in his wake.

The story is concerned with a series of murders in Hollywood secretly executed by a professor of criminology who styles himself the "Celebrity Killer," a role con- vicingly acted by Eduardo Gian- nelli.

Oakie's ribbing propensities and dramatic talents have never been seen to better advantage than in this Edward Small production for RKO Radio, while Miss Sothern's performance is equally outstanding as the distracted pressagent.

Joan Woodbury and Alan Bruce, two young newcomers, attract re- cognition as movie star" stand-ins involved when a leading-man is murdered by the fiendish killer. Bradley Page, as the victimized leading man, Paul Guilfoyle, as a typical film director and Willle Best as a badly scared coloured valet complete the capable cast.

FAMOUS COMEDY ON SCREEN

With one of the finest all-rouna casts that has been assembled in long time."Call it a Day," the Cosmopolitan production adapted from the successful long-run stage hit of London and Broadway, comes in picture form to-day to the King's Theatre.

The passing of this outstanding character and great psysician, he said. would be mourned by the medical profession, by thousands

So far a reply had been received only from Edinburgh. The Edin- burgh committee proposed that the whole question should be in- vestigated by a joint committee of three members from each council.

Mr. J. Ramsay MacDonald, M.P. for the Scottish Universities, in a letter stated that he had heard of a complaint regarding the greater secrecy of the Parliamentary ballot, and if he could help in any way he would be glad to co-operate with them.~-~~-~

Mr. MacDonald added that he was leaving this country--to his regret, but obedient to instructions -to continue his holiday, and did not expect to be back until the turn of the year."
