F.A.'S ATTACK ON UNFAIR FOOTBALLERS

Three Cautions And Then!

SPECIAL INQUIRY IN ALL CASES

The Football Association have, launched the greatest carapaign in the history of the professional game to stamp out foul play, says the "Morning Post."

The FA. have decided that in all cases where three cautions are recorded against a player the matter shall be referred to the Disciplinary Commit- tee, who shall inquire into the offences, and if necessary suspend the player without further investigation. Con- duct during the last two seasons is to be taken into account.

This decision has been communicated to every League club and the directors are requested to draw the attention of the players to it. In addition some clubs have received notice from the Football Association that the records reveal an undue number of reports against certain of their players and the directors are asked to give the matter special attention.

The League football clubs have refused two referees, who could so easily have put a stop to unfair tactics on the field of play, and they bre disregarded the appeals of the F.A. and the obvious concern of the public. The time has now come, it seems, when the F.A. is to take action above the heads of the clubs, ani the great majority who care for the good name of the game will heartily applaud this move by the governing body of the game.

For years, the F.A. have kept re- cords of the players, with various marks against certain men who, by the accumulation of complaints made against them by referees, have come to be regarded as the "black sheep" of the game.

It was always within the power of the F.A. to take action against these men, but the important point is that the F.A. have now stated that in future they will permit no more than three complaints.

to

Football has become so far com. mercialized that the F.A. have taken. the only action open to them, it foot- ball is to be maintained as a sport. The managers, by their indifferance the way in which they achieve their results, have shown a mind only for the business side. It is up to the F.A. to see that the players who stray from the true spirit of the game are not allowed to remain under the banner of the Football Association.
