Catholic cemetery in Happy Valley on kust Tuesday. All Souls' Day. brought together 2 very great number of people of all nationali- tles. It is a ceremony that is re- peated all over the world, for le is the unversal custom of Catholles. to pray in the cemeteries as well a in the churches on that day The note of sadness in the Catho- lle turgy is expressed with great dignity and is always accompanied with expression of hope.

The preactier at this service was Fr. "H de Angelis, associated for the past few years with the Rosary Church. Kowloon, and now Chap Jain to La Salle College. In preaching Arst in English and then in Chinese he showed the remarkable mastery which he pos- sesses 01 the two languages. Hearing his loquence in both of them one is not surprised to be told that his regarded-as-an

orator in his native Italian.

Another Day of the Dead occurs during the coming week. when Armistice Day will be celebrated. The celebration of this day is in 11 sense! the most remarkable legacy of the Great War. These who remember the original day of the armistice, and the wild scenes that characterised it in London will appreciate the contrast bc- tween that day and the anniver- saries. The evolution Was a gradual one. During the first few years rejoicing was the predomin- ant note nspectful memory suc- -ceede it-gow prayerful characteristic of the celebration.
