TAKING LAW INTO OWN HANDS
Ng Luk, 24, a recent arrival from Canton, appeared before Mr. R. A D. Forrest at the Central Magistracy yesterday, charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Tsol Hop-kwan in Wanchai on Thursday.
Detective-Sergeant Davies said complainant owed $1.20 to defen- dail as a mah-tong debt. When he refused to pay it Ng threatened him and on his repeating he could not pay, slashed him across both writats with a knife and caused him to lose a lot of blood.
His Worship passed sentence of four months' hard labour.
