HONG KONG "RIFLE

ASSOCIATION

Membership Steadily Growing

in spite of a tricky wind yester- 'day afternoon, a "century"" was scored,, as will be seen below, by Captain Ratcliffe of the 1st Bn. The Royal ster Rides, When, using the #1914" rifle, in the usual mid-week spoon and practice shoot held by the Hong Kong Rifle Asso- clation.

In connection with this mid- week shoot, the Honorary Secre- tary asks us to point out that it is essential that all competitors shall give their initials as well as their surnames on their score-cards, as

Un

unusually large number of members appear to have not only the same surname, but to hold the same rank and to belonging to the same unit,

The small-bore Inter-Colonial Match will be held during the week-end, and any member of the Association who would like to be, considered for Inclusion in the team should at once get in touch with the Honorary Secretary of this section of the Association's activities, Mr. C. Watson, 30c -Nathan Road, Kowloon (Telephone

No. 30361, extension 40).

Further applications for in-

full membership dividual

have been received this week, particu- larly from HMS. Medway, and there seems to be little doubt that the 700th member will be enrolled during November.

It is hoped that it will be found possible to arrange with the naval authorities for target accommoda- tlon each Saturday afternoon. starting on the first Saturday in November, which will be used oply by those members of the Associa- tion who for business, or other reasons, cannot attend the mid-. week shoot. But even if this is possible, there will still be a con- siderable number of members whose opportunities for practice. are definitely restricted to Sunday

crnings, and the facilities for shooting at this time which have now been granted the Association fon certain occasions during the season have been much appreciat- ed by this class of member, as well ns by those who feel that they would like to shoot as many times as possible.

The new issue of the Associa- tion's magazine, the "H.K.R.A. Bulletin" will be published early! next week, and besides containing revised Handicap Lists, with be tween 20 and 30 names appearing therein for the first time, also gives further statistics regarding the last Prize Meeting, and refers to the rine-shooting encouragement of which was given this year in Brl- tish Guiana, by the then Governor, Northcote, H.E.. Sir Geotry KCMG who arrives in Hong Kong to-day, as Govemor of this Colony.
