The Matabele is the second des- troyer to be named after the native tribes inhabiting Southern Rhodesia, the first being the Mashona, built by Vickers-Arm- strongs.

At a luncheon after the launch Mr. R. Scott, head of the ship- building firm, said that, the Mata- bele had always been a first-rate aghting rice, and they fully de served the compliment of having warship called after them. Mrs. Lanigan O'Keeffe had made ship building history because the Mata- bele was the first warship that had ever been launched In the Matabele language.

On behalf of the bulldeis he presented Mrs. O'Keeffe with a souvenir of the launch.

Mr. Lanigan O'Keefe said the Prime Minister of the youngest self-governing Colony of the Em- pire, Southern Rhodesia, had asked him to convey two messages to them. One was to express his ap- preciation that Southern Rhodesia had been allowed to join the Navy, and the other, his appreciation "hľ the fact that the binding of the ship had been entrusted to the famous shipbuilding Arm of Scotts of Greenock.

The newly formed No. 5 (Bom- ber) Group, Mildenhall, will move into St. Vincents. Grantham, on a date to be notified later. This group is now tri control of the stations and bomber squadrons at Grantham, Hemswell, and Wad- dington, all in Lincolnshire.
