Slowly but surely, with infinite patience and tireless research, Col. Josiah Wedgwood, M.P., is pressing forward with his monumental task of preparing a biographical history of Parliament during the last 700 years.

Four years ago the project. af compiling a "Pageant of Parlia ment" from 1264 unt. 1918 was launched by an appeal from the Prime Minister. Since then a com- mittee of both Houses has been formed, with Colonel Wedgwood as honorary secretary; funds have been collected; and one of the 40- odd volumes which will comprise the history has appeared.

This volume, published last No- vember, covered the period between 1439 and 1500-a record of 29 Parliaments. Within a few months £ companion volume will be published, setting forth the names, ages, constituencies, and addresses of the 2,600 Ministers, Peers, and members who sat in Parliament during those 70 years. There will also be a third volume, giving the conclusions which may be drawn from such detailed study of this period

So it will be with each of the

17 periods into which the History is to be divided. Each will be covered by a blographical volume, a register of names, and a summary of conclusions.
