Ruffing pitched unchanged for the Yankees. He was only in trou ble twice. In the first and ninth in- nings. In the last frame, he con- eeded a walk and two singles, thus loading the bases, but then Moore grounded to third base and the runner was but out at home. Ruf- . fing struck but eight batters.

Gumbert replaced Melton in the box and staved off the Yankee at- tack for the remainder of the session. The Yankees duplicated yesterday's sixth inning display of dynamite and forged further ahead with four runs. Gumbert then yielded to Coffman, who gave the Yankees slightly more resistance from the mound, allowing only two runs" and two hits in the seventh. No more scoring took place for the remainder of the match.
The Yankees' runs were batted in by Selkirk and Ruming, three each, and Dickey and Hoag one zach, while Melvin Ott was responsible for the Giants' solitary tally.
