Wins One Hundred Yards Free Style In 74 Seconds

Miss Veronica Thirlwell retained her title when she won the 100 yards free,style Ladies' Cham- plonship of the Colony at the Victoria Recreation Club pool yesterday evening, the second day of the Annual Championships.

Miss Thiriwell won in the time of 74 seconds thus bettering her effort of last year by one and two-fifths seconds. Second place went to Miss Doris Hunt, her time being 80 3/5 seconds which was also an improvement on her effort of last year when she was third and her time 82 4/5 seconds. Miss A. Thirlwell was third.

It was a splendid race but there was never any doubt as to the win-

The Hong Kong Ladies' Hockey Association report and statement of accounts for the season ending. September, 30, 1937, states:-

During the year under review Ave teams competed in the Senior League, the "Y" Ladies winning the Cher Clark Cup for the Arst time and the Hong Kong Ladies the Southern Cup for the second year in succession.

the Junior League eight teams competed and "A" the Central British School team are to be congratulated on winning the Brown Cup, the Royal Ulster Rifles, Ladies Hockey team winning a Cup kindly presented by Messrs. Mamak and Co., for the runners-up in this league.

The annual Seven-a-side Tour- nament was held on the Central British School ground-the Hong Kong Ladies winning the Pearce Cup and St. Andrew's the Knill Cup,

"The Shanghai Ladies' Hockey Association sent a team down at Chinese New Year and for the Arst time the Interport match was played in good weather. After 20 minutes extra time the match re- sulted in a draw-both teams play- ing extremely well. The Associa-, Lion are very grateful to the Hong Kong Football Club for so kindly granting.us the use of their ground on this occasion.

The Rest of Hong Kong beat the Shanghai team by 3 goals to 1 and Shanghal drew with the League Champions, the "Y" Ladies.
