COMMUNIST FIGHTING FORCES ATTACKS ON

Events in North China aro moving rapidly towards a major clash between approximately 180,- 000 Japanese troops in North China and Chinese forces estimated at least 400,000.

The Japanese have penetrated 50 miles from Charhar into Shansi province. Hitherto they. have met with little resistance, but the Chi- nese armies.are massing south of Tatung.
