The inquiry into the circums- tances surrounding the death of second class Aircraftsman George Bernard Chisholm-Ellams, R.A.F. "was concluded before Mr. K. M. A. Barnett sitting as Coroner at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday. jury comprised of Messrs. B. C. Randall (Foreman). W. L Ramsey and Wong Ying-kin, re- turned a verdict of death by mis- adventure.

deceased. that he found drinking in the canteen about 8.30 p.m. on July 30, the night when deceased was later discovered by his compades hanging in the dry- ing room. Previously, witness said he approached deceased" and ask- ed him whether deceased knew
that he was not allowed to be in the canteen, being a defaulter, to which deceased replied that he was aware of the fact. Witness sald he ordered him out and can- tioned him. It was alleged that deccased said. "You know what you сац do. put me on the charge." Witness last saw deccas- ed about 10.15 p.m. the same night when he inspected the room and switched off the lights. Decens- ed was sitting on his bed smoking. First Class Aircraftsman. A. D. Morgan deposed that deceased had informed him some time ago that he did not like the service and the N.C.O's and Officers of the RAF. Deceased had been wanting to leave the service and had at- tempted to do" so опсе before which resulted in seven days' de- tention. Deceased had gone to ask witness whether or not by cutting off his fingers he would get his discharge. Later in the evening of the day in question, deceased had asked for a loan from witness but witness replied that he was not in the position to do so. The refusal, however, did not seem to worry deceased.

March 1 and May 13:

Under direct examination by Mr. Sheldon, Ko Wan-tak said that Au Hing, Wong and himself arrived at the Star Ferry about 8 and 9 o'clock. They waited there until about 9.20. About that time he saw Chan Lai Chan coming out of the ferry. He polated Chan out to the others as being the person,

Summing up his Worship sald that there were only two possible theories which could apply to the death of the deceased. One was death by misadventure, which suggested that deceased had at- tempted to get out of the service by a frame-up to commit suicide. and to commit it while within the hearing or notice of his comrades who would come to release him. The other theory was suicide.
The jury after length of dell- beration returned a verdict of death by misadventure, remarking that deceased's death was due to hanging by his own act and that he had no intention of causing his own death.

GUILTY OF DUMPING
The case in which Chan Yee, a married woman and Iu Yau are alleged to have dumped a body in a lane branching off from Hen- nessy Road, concluded yesterday when his Worship sentenced them to one month's imprisonment with

Dr. R. 8. Begble stated that in his opinion death was caused by fracture and dislocation of the spine. The injuries could have been caused by a moving vehicle striking a plank which the de- ceased and another ran were carrying.
S. R. Stride testified that on the day in question he was travelling in an easterly direction about 1.30 P.m. at a speed of 20 miles per hour. As witness approached the Junction of Hennessy Road and Percival Street he drove with cau- tion and about 35 yards ahead he saw the end of a `plank profecting" Into the roadway. As the accident occurred so suddenly he did not pull up until he had reached ten yards away from the scene of the accident.
