London, Aug. 8.. Northants, the poorest of the English county cricket teams, has produced another Test cricketer. A. D. G. Matthews who has been bowling brillantly for Northants this season, has been chosen to play for England against New Zealand in the third Test at the Oval on August 14, and be is the first Northants player to receive such distinguished recognition since V. K. V. Braddon and E. H. Cham- Ders, of Beaconsfield, who won the Golf Balls of Stoke with an aggre- gate of 135 recently, had the extra ordinary score of,6% in their nat round. The event, a 36 holes four- ball competition, was played on the Old Course of the Stoke Poges Club, near Slough, the scratch score of which is 75 and the par 73.
Braddon and Chambers, who won the tournament in 1933 when it was decided by match-play, did the frst nine holes of their morning home in 29. Chambers had three 2's, holing from six feet at the third, seven yards at the 11th and acoring his third two at the 418 yards 14th, where he holed out with a mashte niblick shot of more than 120 yards. Braddon, after missing a short putt for two at the short seventh, had a perfect three at the 12th and sank a three-yarder, for two, at the 18th.
