Image Of Virgin Reported Found
י
The small barrio of Dungalo, Parañaque, Rizal, suddenly became a Mecca for hundreds of worshippers from the town and neighbour- ing municipalities with the discovery of a supposed image of the Holy Virgin last week, writes a Manila correspondent. News of the discovery spread like wildfire, causing hundreds of people to flock to the barrio.
The Imat was supposedly found in a ripe papaya by a young man known in the barrio as "Berting." He said he opened the fruit and to his amazement found the image encased in it. Upon learn-. ing of the discovery, the entire household gathered about him and stared at the image in reverential awe. Then there was wild excite- ment in the house, and the entire neighbourhood, on learning about the news, came in. A mad scramble for possession of the frult en- sued.
