Jaguars Recover When Union President Speaks Out
All Seemed Lost
The contest between the Jaguars and Roehampton, the teams of all the talents, for the Bhopal Chal- lenge Cup at Roehampton topped the pole bul on the occasion of the Club's British Empire Garden Party.
The Cup has been presented to Roehampton by the Nawab of Bhopal for an anquai tournament between the four strongest teams of the season.
As time did not allow for the ar- rangement of a tournament this year, it was decided to play for it with a match.
Before A large crowd the Jaguars after recovering gur- prisingly from four goals down at the end of the fifth chukker, won by 9 goals to 8 at the finish of the second extra period.
It was great game, full of in- terest, with the players on each side at the top of their form. Roehampton looked easy winners until the game's dramatic finish.

THOSE AT FAULT MUST GO
Major-General B. A. Hill, elected President of the Rugby Union at the annual meeting in London, made a strong attack upon unfair tactica on the field of play,
There was evidence in many games last season, he said, that players were "paying too much attention to the letter of the Law
• and too little to the spirit.”
There were too many question- able tricks, and he gave, as an in- stance. the action of one player last season who should have been punished under Law 34. The player," he said, "when taking & penalty kick, signalled to the touchjudges that he was going to take a kick at goal. The touch- judges accordingly went behind the goal, but the player look a short punt ahead and followed it
up.
"Those views were not only his, but those of the whole of the Rugby Union Committee, who de plored the present state
of the game,"
He appealed to referees, club officials and committees to make every effort to enforce the laws, and said the Union expected club committes to discourage players who are guilty of unfair tactica, and not to select them.
A proposition by Bristol R.F.C. "What is the reason for this un-seconded by Bath RFC., reading: fair play?" asked the President. "That the practice of allowing ""The expenses of clubs are now facilities for the broadcasting of becoming larger and there is a

"Referees," he said, "have been blamed for this state of affairs. The International Board had - sted a statement and many peo- ple had misinterpreted its mean Ing. The Board did not find fault with the referees except in those instances where they were not doing their duty and sending of players when they infringed Law 34 (B)."
