Designs

The dresses worn during the Grande Bemaine were simple, but elegant by reason of their delicate colours. Pale-coloured dresses with dark accessories looked cool and fresh at the Grand Prix. Bashes struck the same colour note as the hat, bag, and gloves. Sashes and details of dark blue," or tomato- red, were worn with dresses of pale banana-coloured silk crepe. Dove- grey went with black or dull-red hats and gloves, "Blue-fox" is the name of a fashionable new shade of belge. The hats put with these pale-coloured dresses were not in- variably dark in colour. They might match the dress, m which Case they were trimmed with chiffon in the darker colour of the accessories.

Woollen lace as well as silk lace is in fashion. A tunic-coat of brown woollen lace is correct with a pleated skirt of fine brown wool- len material. A red and green sash and & broad-brimmed hat of brown felt are right with this “ensemble" Tailor-mades of plain or figured materials

are worn with lace blouses. A black lace blouse goes with a white silk pique "ensemble," the revers of which are outlined with a fringe of black monkey-fur. Blouses of deep blus lace look charming with blue and white figured shantung outfits.

dresses which have pale pink foun- dations. A cost-dress of black chiffon which buttons all down the front of the bodice and skirt was worn at Auteuil. This dress had been worked into a checked design with narrow pleats and with it went pale pink gloves and shoes to match the foundation' and the swathed trimming on the hat.

New toques without crowns, which are little more than pieces of Blik, or feathers encircling the head. were worn at the Hotel Georges v for the Drags luncheon. Other toques rose in fan-shaped bows straight from the crown of the head. Many hats have broad, Dir ectoire brims, which are turned up in front with flowers, or trulbs, packed beneath them.

Ostrich feathers are in fashion and new hats have high crowns and, loug uncurled feathers falling from the side of the hat to be Chiffon in three different colours twisted round the neck like a boa
