£70,000 TO REPAIR H.M.S. HUNTER

It will cost £70,000, according to a rough estimate, to repair H.M. destroyer Hunter which was re- cently damaged by a mine of the coast of Spain.

This information was given by Colonel Llewellin, Civil Lord of the Admiralty, In reply to a question in the House of Commons.

Describing the damage, he said that the boller rooms which, as previously stated, were flooded were opened to the sea, the shell plating being almost completely ruptured at the forward end of the forward boiler room. The foremost boiler was displaced and the for- ward bulkhead of the middle boller room damaged, but the after bulk- head of this compartiment, remain- ed watertight. The forward bulk- head of the forward bolle room was wrecked.

The shell plating forward of the boller rooms was strained to such A extent as to result in the partial flooding of three main 2 compartments 'forward.
