THEOSOPHICAL

SOCIETY MEETING

Once a year Manuk Lodge, the Theosophical Society In Hong Kong meets to look over a past year's work, choose a new com- mittee and look forward tentative- ly to a new year of progress. The latest meeting, of this type was well attended last Monday. Mr. C. Jinarajadasa one of the greatest figures in the Society to-day, who had just arrived in Hong Kong the day before, was kind enough to say a few words about the busi- ness attitude and the Theosophist.

Mr. S. Ung, the Secretary, read his report which gave a most kaleidoscopic view of the Lodge's activities. There had been a net increase of five full fellows during the past year and most notable of its achievements was the carry- ing out completely of a whole series of talks on the Plan of Evolution as outlined by the World Fresident.

APPOINTMENTS

The following appointments have been made by the Admiralty:-

Indirect "Innocent Cause

Police investigations into the circumstances which led to the fatal fall of Mr. C. E. Watson from the verandah of his flat, No. 26, Carnarvon Road, Kowloon, in the

early hours of Monday, reveal that

an

entirely innocent affair was the indirect cause of the tragedy.

It appears that a Chinese golag home about 4 a.m. decided to have a rest in a car outalde Mr. Watson's apartment as he was feeling tired. An Indian Constable saw the man

get into the car and went up to question him, since he was not driving the car and the hour was unusually early.

The Chinese decided to run for it as he had no business in the car and the constable gave chase. blowing his whistle as he ran. It was undoubtedly this disturbance that roused Mr. Watson, as well as other residents in the vicinity, and in trying to ascertain the cause of it, the unfortunate man must have lost his footing and fallen over 40 feet from the verandah to the

ground.
