EDUCATION IN

HONG KONG

St. Paul's Girls College

In previous articles on this subject we have already given a short account of the Diocesan Boys School, St. Mary's School, and the Central British School, and now we come to an educational establishment which is very firmly established in the affections of the Colony, namely, St. Paul's Girls College.

Credit must be given where credit is due, and there can be no doubt that this school awes much of the success it enjoys to the great ability, and the wise guidance of the very charm- ing Chinese lady who has filled the post of Principal for many years and who will, in fact, be celebrating the twenty- first anniversary of her appointment in a few weeks time.

Dr. F. C. Woo, M.BE, D.Ped. (known affectionately to so many as Dr. Katle Woo) was appointed to the post of Principal on her return from England in 1918, just a year after the school opened it's door in Calne Road, with pupils num bering fifty. These numbers - creased very rapidly for the aim of the school has ever been to pro-

vide a high-grade Chinese educa

tion for girls of the Colony, and to follow this up by inculcating ideas. of public service and good citizenship. In addition therefore, to the usual scholastic education the pupils are encouraged to join such organizations as the Girl Guldes, the Wah Wong, or Y.W.CA. and the Ministering Children's League.
