This is how the B.B.C. explained the extraordinary incident at the end of their news bulletin:

"Here is a story against our- selves. A young man in the crowd" outside Buckinghain Pa- lace climbed into the B.B.C. cu- bicle in the Green Park, pretend- ed to be one of the observers, and broadcast a brief description of the scene."

A player in England who feels that he has outstanding ability und desires to try his hand in the company of leading players is fac- ed with a difficult and dangerous choice. Few amateurs can axord to play county cricket throughout the season, and county organizations Go not want amateurs who only play in one or two matches.

Few players in England emerge from League or club cricket to the high places of the first class game. There is no logical path of progress from club, to international cric- kot.

The official was expecting a commentator whom he did not known by sight and asked him. "Are you Mr.?" giving the. name of the expected commen- tator.

"That's me," was the reply. Thereupon he was given charge of the microphone and when the signal was given to him from the van, indulged himself and millions

covering, the surface to be made suitable for use for roof gardens; the club house to be generally overhauled and re - decorated throughout.

The plans embracing those ul- terations and improvements have been open to your inspiration for the past, fortnight, and as the Committee has received no criti- cism of them, I can assume that the scheme, as such has your ap-" proval.

Now with regard to the method whereby your Committee intend financing the cost of the scheme before you, I give it as my personal opinion that you will be tieing no millstone round your necks by agreeing to their recommendation. The Club is now working on a monthly surplus, and even if it were not, and the worst came to the worst, we are committing the present membership of the Club to a liability of only 25 cents per member per month.
