The Manila market closed easy. at slightly below the best done during the day's trading. Advices throughout the day had" however been steady, and the level at the close is somewhat higher than pre- viously reported.

Pick-Up Assumes Proportions Unprecedented
This year, the trade pick-up on the eve of the May the Tirst holi- days assumed an unprecedented scale. On April 29, the trade turn- over. In the Moscow stores reached | 51,000,000 (roubles or 10,500,000 roubles more than on the same day last year. On April 30 and May 1, the proceeds resched: 71,900,000 roubles as against-58,800,000 roubles In 1936.
