Richmond, Cal., May 28. Work in the West Coast assem- bly plant of the Ford Motor Com pany was at a stand-still "to-day with the calling of a strike which Mr. Frank Slaby, local leader of the United Automobile Workers, describes as the first gun in the war against Mr. Henry Ford
Eighteen hundred workers are affected by this strike.
Mr. Ford is quoted as saying that if he had his way "the factory would be closed permanently.”
Mr. Slaby, on the other hand predicts the strike will spread to other Ford factories until it is sue- cessful in its entirety.— Reuter,

Nursery At Callander Has Thousands Of Visitors
The world-famous tonne quintuplets, Yvonne, Annette, Cecile. Emilie and Marie, are three years old to-day.
Going to see the quintuplets, it would appear, bids fair to be, the favourite outdoor sport of hundreds of thousands who are taking the long trek to the nursery at Callander, Ontario, where the five infants are at home to the child-loving world.
Their guardians, Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe and Judge J. A. Valin, are sensitive to the widespread and sincere affection aroused by the five and are ready to satisfy its demands insofar as the safety of the nursery permits.
The quintuplets are now old enough to find intense and varied enjoyment in the spacious outdoor playground "just outside the logca- bin nursery, which has been their home since they were a few weeks
old.
