SHE'S DANGEROUS! :

"She's Dangerous!" the Univer sal picture which is showing at the Alhambra Theatre to-day, is high pitched diama played by convia- cing performers who portray their roles in a vibrant key. Tala Breil, both attractive and emotional, is Been in the character of an in-

surance detective who traps a gang leader after he steals a hall million dollars worth of bonds. The mobster, interpreted by Cesar Romero, becomes wildly infatuated with Tala Birell and later is madly jealous of her love affair with a doctor, enacted by Walter Pidgeon, whose return to the screen is most welcome.

STEP LIVELY, JEEVES!

"Charming chapples; these gua. ster!" was Jeeves' amiable com- ment, but it seems they some- times get rough; and then it's Jeeves, by Jeepers, who gets tough. A mobster's social error makes P. O. Wodehouse's lovable "gentle- man's gentleman" tear loose to teach gangland to mend its man- ners in Twentieth Century-Fox's bit of folly nonsense. "Step Lively Jeeves" which has its ran at the Queen's Theatre. to-day, with the sad-eyed, elongated Arthur Trea cher in the title role. Patricia Ella and Robert Kent are featured In the romantic leads.

THE KING'S VACATION

Most of the medals which have been sold or pawned or flaked in the past ten years appear all to- gether in one scene in the new George Arliss starring vehicle or Wamer Bros., "The King's Vaca- tion,” which is now showing at the King's Theatre. The early sequences of it are full of generals and aides, and statesmen, all very much in uniform and all wearing several pounds of decorations and medals,

Mr. Arliss himself wears twenty- five or thirty of them on the two dress uniforms he uses in the early scene. He soon tires of this pomp, however, and takes a desired vacation, the surprising incidents of which form the basis of the story.

SWING HIGH, SWING LOW

Carole Lombard and Fred Mac- Murray, the romantic team of "Hands Across The Table" and "A Princess Comes Across," are together again in "Swing High. Swing Low," a romance with music commencing to-morrow at the Queen's and Alhambra Theatres.

from

Who wouldn't, gladly get an eye blackened on the guarantee that luscious Carole Lombard would take care of it? Not Fred MacMurray, anyhow, as you may ́observe in this scene *Swing High, Swing Low," the couple's latest co-starring film, due simultaneously at the Queen's and Alhambra Theatres on Saturday, May 22

"Swing High, Swing Low" is the story of night club life in Panama and New York. Miss Lombard plays the role of an entertainer in a Panama cabaret, who makes a famous musician cut of Mac- Murray who has been very much on the loose in the canal port. This role gives Miss Lombard an opportunity to sing and dance, the first time she exhibits her talents in these fields, and Mac- Murray plays the trumpeter, also for the first time in pictures.

BABES IN TOYLAND

Victor Herbert's immortal "March of the Toys" and "Castle in Spain" as well as the delight- ful.fantasy and stary book Agures of childhood, have been brought to the screen in a film that should prove a joy and revelation to children and grown-ups.

The picture is the Hal Roach- M-G-M production, "Babes In

· Toyland," a new feature-length vehicle starring Laurel and Hardy, and showing to-day at the Majes- tic 'Theatre.

In this feature, Laurel and Hardy again don costumes that differ from their orthodox baggy sults and derbies. They are two apprentice toymakers, who in their sincere but wild attempte, to get the Widow Peep, who lived in "The Shoe,". and her daughter," Bo-Peep, out of the clutches of Toyland's villain, Barnaby, involve themselves in a series of hilarious events that at times turns the operetta into a screamingly funny comedy.
