RAN AMOK
On the night in question, two Gunners, one a well-known Army swimmer, broke into a Quarter Master Sergeant's, Store, stole 80 rounds of blank ammunition and later injured an Indian Police Of- ficer of the Naval Dockyard, while one of the two accused threatened another Gunner with a bayonet,
The allegation is that the men virtually ran amok on the Island after drinking" methylated spirits. "wounded the Indian with a charge of "Buckshot" consisting of draw- Ing-pins and the like, and defed authority, declining to surrender when called upon.
It appears that they took refuge in the under-growth on the hills and that a large party had to be organised to round them up and place them under arrest.
