Mr. B. B, Bassett arrived in Hong Kong on Wednesday to take over his duties as General Superin- tendent of Hong Kong Mines, Mr. Bassett has been in the mining business for the past nineteen years, having served 6 years in Bisbee, Arizona, U.S.A. 8 years in Mexico, 2 years in Honduras and 3 years in the Philippine Islands. His most recent position was at Tinago Consolidated Mines in the Masbate district, which property is almost ready to order n mill. With Mr. Bassett on the job Hong Kong Mine's is also using Mr. Willam. Fowler and Mr. C. G. Brown. Work is being rushed on the property.so that production may begin in the" early part of July.

Mr. L. R. Nielson, head of the two companies which bear his name arrived in the Colony last Satur→ day on the "Conte Blancamaño " from Singapore and was met here by Mr. George Scholey.
