It is a blend of finely pulverised coal with the oil fuel normally con-

All reports available indicate that this brand of colloidal fuel has proved satisfactory:

It is appreciably cheaper than all only, and as the Cunard Co. consumes well, over 1,000.000 tons of oil a year the substitution of coal to the extent of 40 per cent. would represent a big economy in running costs.

STATE'S INTEREST IN OIL· FROM COAL The question of coal-all was raised in the House of Commons recently.

Captain H F. C. Crookshank (Minister for Mines), replying to Mr. G. H. Hall (Soc. Aberdare). sald that the Government had given much attention for a long time past to the possiblity of assisting the development of oil had from

and coal processes,

by afforded tangible assistance means of the preference under the British Hydro-Carbon Oil Produc- Non Act, 1934.

"As regards the Berglus and other processes," he added, "the information at present available to the Government is not sufficient to enable it to reach a final con- possibilities of clusion as to the "commercial success.

"Although it indicates that the expenditure would be very high in relation to the amount of employ ment which could be provided, considerations of national defence Government also arise and the has not yet been able to conclude its examination of them."
