(BY LONGSHOREMAN), During the 24 hours ended at 9.00 a.. yesterday, the freight returns received from the Har- bour Omce. showed a very high tonnage movement a good pro- portion being made up by British and Japanese chips.

The total tonnage of general cargo carried by vessels to the Colony

tons, with British steamers. carrying 2,888 tons. Through cargo for ports beyond the Colony amounted to 54,271 tons, of which 11,035 tons were carried by British steamers. Asiatic deck passengers entering the Colony during the twenty-four hours ended at 9 am. yesterday were 1,452, of which 1,405 were

from British steamers.

With the advent of anti-tank guns, the original role of the tank. immune to infantry fire,. disap- pears, writes a correspondent in the "Dally Telegraph." What is the new one to be?
