Coronation Celebrations In Colony
A feature of the Coronation Celebrations will he a Rally of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides of the Colony at the Hong Kong Football Ground, Happy Valley, from 3 p.m. till 5 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, May 14.
For the past two months the Sub-Committee dealing with' this section of the Colony's Celebrations, under the guidance of the Commissioners for the two Movements, has been busily en- raged in arranging numerous detalls. The officers in charge of the various Scout Troops and Guide Companies have been assi- duously training the Scouts and Guides for the many activities in which they will take part. Their efforts should provide a thoroughly entertaining programme for the public on the Friday afternoon of Coronation week.

GEDGE MEDAL AWARD Paymaster Sub-Lieutenant T. C. Sherwin, H.M.S Newcastle, has been awarded the Gedge Medal and Prize for 1936. This medal and prize were instituted by the arcountant officers of the Navy in 1929 for the paymaster sub-lleu- tenant obtaining the highest per- centage of marks in his examina- tons. They commemorate Staff Paymaster Joseph T. Gedge, R.N.. killed H.M.S. Amphion on Au- gust 6, 1914, and the first British officer of all the fighting Services to lose his life in action during the War. The first recipient was Pay- master Sub-Lieutenant H. H. L.
