Dr. Trip Presides

Basle, May 3. The Board of Directors of the Bank of International Settlements met here, and Dr. Trip of Holland, opening, the meeting read the annual report, and, his term of office expiring, retired, as President. Dr. Hjalmar Schacht (Germany) expressed the Board's appreciation of Dr. Trip's work, who will incld- entally remain member of the board, while Dr. Beyen was defin- itely elected President."

An ordinary general meeting of shareholders was then held. Its first action was to give unanimous sanction to the decision to separ- ate the office of President and Chairman. Henceforth Sir Otto Niemeyer will hold the office as Chairman of the Board of Admin- istration and Dr. Beyen will be President of the Board of Directors. The Bank will pay a 6 per cent dividend and it will be paid out in the currency of the country of issue and to the amount corres- ponding to the gold-value of the

dividend.-

JAPAN SENDS MORE GOLD TO UNITED STATES

For the fifth time in the past two months, gold bullion valued at Y21,449,900 left Kobe for the United States aboard them.v. Tatsuta Maru.
