Society's Gratitude To Sir

Andrew And Lady Caldecott

Reference to the keen and prac tical interest which Sir Andrew and Lady Caldecott took in the Society for the Protection of Children was made at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Society held on Monday even- ing.

Mr. J. T. Prior, who presided, stated that both Sir Andrew and Lady Caldecott took a very great interest in the Society and its work for more than was apparent to the public and, perhaps, even

members of the Committee. Before they left the Colony, they forwarded a cheque for $300 for the Society.

tion that the creche shall be used -entirely for babies of mothers employed in work, those under one year being given preference.

Two interesting cases reported by the Hon." Secretary of the Eas- tern district were considered by the Committee.

The funeral of Mrs. Rose Hughes Greaves, who died at her residence, No. 67 Robinson Road yesterday morning, after a prolonged illness, took place at the Protestant Ceme- tery last evening.

The deceased lady was the wife .of Mr. A. P. Greaves, mem- ter of the Hong Kong Share. brokers' Association. She was 49 years of age and leaves a son, Mr.

The third piracy in Hong Kong waters, in the space of a few days, took place on Tuesday, the victim being Hon Mak, 21, master of junk E 141. In his report to the police he said that his boat was seized off Tokan point near, Tangmun Island. Five pirates who appeared to" be Hakkas, suddenly ran their ship along the side of the complainant's junk and took the occupants in com-
