Pearl Buck's Famous Novel Filmed
The long-awaited première of The Good Earth" took place re- cently at the Palace Theatre, and when the last scene had faded out the tremendous applause testified to the high quality of the picture.
Among the audience were the wife of the Chinese Ambassador, many celebrities of the stage, and the father and mother of Miss Luise Rainer, the star, who had flown especially from Germany to see their daughter's performance.
"The Good Earth" is one of the most ambitious pictures that have yet been produced. The nest actors and thousands of extras were employed for over a period of three years and a half, in China and - California, in the making of this £600,000 film.
