Ing story and warm romance "Racing Lady." which is. showing at the Alhambra Theatre to-day.
The story is from a novel by Damon Runyon who has contri- buted many hits to the screen In the last few years, and a story by J. Robert Bren and Norman Hous- ton. It has Smith Ballew and Ann Dvorak for the featured leads. Ballew, as a wealthy automobile manufacturer, uses his string of thorougbred horses and his girl trainer, Ann Dvorak. solely as a publicity aide to his business. However, an interesting slant on turf sportsmanship is given audi- ences when, after Ballew has won Miss Dvorak over to his philoso- phy, that winning a race is the only thing worth while, her innate principles of fair play which Harry Carey, her father, has instilled in her from childhood, bring about rebellion and the climax of the picture.

HE the G.0.0. Major General Bartholomew and Mrs. Barthola- mew, Mr. and Mrs. David Strellet and several others. During the in- terval His Excellency went round to the green-room to compliment the performers and the producer, Rev. C. J. Cyril Brown, and Mr. Lindsay Lafford.
After the show was over bouquets and baskets of flowers and sou- venirs of all descriptions were handed up to the performers who thoroughly deserved every one of
them.
It was bright, it was amusing, it was completely different from any- thing seen here before. It had a leading lady with a voice like an angel and the charm of a London chorus girl.(and that is some com- pliment, belleve me) and what is more every newspaper in the Colony praised the show. In spite of this more than half the Colony did not trouble to go. Noth- Ing can be done about such apathy, It is Hong Kong all over.
It is a marvel that our clever The inanite talent of Joe local amateurs still take the trouble Brown was never better exempli-

Theatre to-day. As a comedian of his type, we think there is no one who approaches him in CASy versatility, nor any whose fleething expressions are quite so funny to behold.
This hilarious picture has the completely novel background of astrology. The subject is Ideally. suited to comedy treatment.
After a series of lessons intended to at him for a career as an astro- loger. Brown is seen as a particul- arly clumsy bus boy in a cafe where he has the good fortune, by counting the planets, to predict for a gambler the outcome of a race. Frightened, however, he drops from sight to work in a fortune-telling concession.
