Insurgent Warships Keep At Safe Distance

The safety of Spanish and other merchant vessels in terri- torial waters at Bilbao is guaranteed by the Basque Government ships and coastal batteries according to the Spanish Embassy in London.

Tokyo, April 12. Headquarters of the 49th "In- fantry regiment in Kofu received an official report this afternoou stating that 28 Japanese soldiers sent to Manchukuo were killed in an engagement against volunteers in North Manchukuo during Saturday and Sunday.

John Drinkwater Dies In His Sleep, Aged 54

The death of Mr. John Drink- water," the eminent playwright and poet, occurred on March 24.

Mr. Drinkwater was 54. He had not been ill. He died in his sleep.

Mrs. Drinkwater said:

"Mr. Drinkwater's heart had never been too strong. He went to the Boat Race with his brother and followed the race in a launch When he came home he wrote af Coronation article.
