GUNS AND SIZE OF
SHIPS
At any other time the report that Japan will not agree to limit the guns on capital ships to 14-inch would have caused a fine stir all over the world, but our sensibilities are blunted by the gigantic figures of arms pro

(BY "PRUDENCE")
A social event of considerable importance took place on Saturday night, when the Portuguese Com- pany of the HK,V.D.C. gave, their annual dance at the Club Lusitano, which was attended by more than two hundred well-known people.
Since the gossip-writer's chief duty seems to lle in the descrip tion of the pretty frocks abe esples at the functions I fear. I shall | break all records when I begin my description by saying that the first thing which struck me on entar- ing the ballroom was the great number of attractive looking well- groomed young men who filled the room. In fact it is quite a long ime since I saw so many "good" lookers" (as they say at the Flick- ers) in one short evening.
But the
good looks were not confined to members of the strong- er sex, for the ballroom was a veritable flower-garden of pretty girls and dresses of every delicate rainbow hue.
