The annual dinner of the Portuguese Company of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps was held on Saturday night in the Club Lusitano and was well attended. The function, which also marked the tenth anniversary of the Company, was an unquali- Red success. The dinner was followed by a dance which was.

His Excellency the Governor-Designate of Macao, Senhor Artur Tamagnini de Sousa Barbosa, graced the dinner with his pre-
sence.
In the course of a speech, Licut Col. R. C. B. Anderson, Com- mandant of the B.K.V.D.C., pointed out the important tasks that had been allotted to the Portuguese Company in the defence of the Colony,
