STEEL TOWN THAT IS THRIVING

No steel centre of Great Britain presents a more convincing picture of thriving, expanding prosperity, than Scunthorpe, which last year' produced well over a million tons of steel from the iron field which Hles at its doors. states the "Dally Telegraph.'

There are skilled rolling men who are now 'earning a steady £15 a-week, and the general average of wages is high. Unemployment has been reduced to what is virtually a nominal figure of 900 among a population of 40,000:

Lincolnshire villages for seven or eight miles around are sharing in the new prosperity. Some of the steel workers drive into town each day in communal second-hand cars, sharing the capital and run- ning costs.

Part of the ore crushed, according to Mr. DeWitt is from the Gold Creek property.

"Head values from Antamok and Gold Creek average P21.22 and P18.52 per ton respectively, result- ing in a net recovery of P437- 730.20.

"Ore produced from development amounted to 2,730.72 dry tons averaging P15.03 per ton, repre- senting 13.8 per cent of the ton- nage treated and 10 per cent of the values.
