Ten happy-go-lucky, punters put down five dollars each on Mr. Eu Tong Sen's Potentate race of the afternoon and were rewarded with the phenomenal a win in the first dividend of $477.10, the highest paid at Valley race meetings for some considerable time. Poten- tate was piloted to victory by Mr. W. C. Por.

In the Swatow Handicap. the second race on the programme. Mr. H. A. Browning's Sylvandale (Mr. L. P. Ralph) gained first place to pay $101.60 for a win!

The third three-figure dividend was returned in the ninth 'race, Apilas. owned by Mr. Vilas, and ridden by Mr. S. C. Lang. Paying $199.70" to successful punters.

Mr. Cyrill Gregory, who is show- ing vast improvement among the -Swatow Handicap (1st Section) local novice jockeys, recorded his second victory at the Valley when he rode T. and E's Whalsey to a win in the seventh Tace. the second leg of the daily double event. It was a popular win and Mr. Gregory received a great ova- tlon. It will be recalled that Mr. "Gregory' rode Whalsey to third place in the fifth race at the First race at the First Extra Meeting a fortnight ago.
