METAL PRICES STILL RISING

London, Mar. 18. The Chancellor of the Exchequer was asked in the House of Com- mons whether he was aware that owing to the demands of the arma- ment programme and the man- pulations of speculators, prices of Iron, steel, and non-ferrous metals were still rising.

He replied that the position was being carefully watched, but that the questioner attached exaggeral- ed importance to the demands of the armament programme of the Government. These were only

part of the total of British de mands and that in turn was.a small fraction of the world de- mand.
