LEE WAI TONG WINS

3. A. Runjahn, strongest con- tender for the Colony open singles Lennis title survived the second found when he met and defeated F... Grose yesterday. The winner played in unconvincing manner.

Though in the absence of Tsui Wal-pul, the holder, who is likely to withdraw from the tournament because of his Dayls Cup engage- ment and who will have been favoured by his many supporters to retain the champlonamp again this year, Rumjahn's showing yes- terday, however, did not promise well for his chances.

Helped by the numerous takes made by Grose and showing now and then his former brilliance, Rumjahn. finally won by the mar- gin of 6-3, 7-5.

The only other championship match of the day was that be- tween Wong Fuk-nam and Y. H. Ho. After a good struggle the former won by the scores of 8-2, B-4

Watch Grand National

London, Mar. 18. Extra charm is added to Friday's Grand National race at Aintree by the fact that Their Majesties who are staying at Knowsley Hall with Lord Derby will be present at the race.

It is the first time for many years that a reigning monarch has attended the race, which this year celebrates the centenary of the famous event.

Spow, hail, sleet and torrential rain will make the race one of the greatest tests of endurance by man and beast in the history of the Grand National. Yet many owners are almost optimistic such as those ́of Didoric, Buckthorn, Dawnar, Don Bradman, Dryburgh Egg Splonaud, Puck-a-Belle and Royal Mail, who are expecting to win.

On the other hand Owen An- thony, trainer of Golden Miller, who is participating for the fifth time and again starting a favou rite despite its lapses of the last two years, only says that he expects the horse to run well. „
