Preliminary work on the pro- perty of the Surigao Oriental Mines, Inc., has been most en- couraging, according to a report just issued by C. de G Alvear, president and general manager,

The company is exploring a group of 45 lode claims situated in the sitios. of Mapawa and Capalayan in Surigao, Mindanao. Work started in October, 1936, and since January, 1937 has been under, the supervision of L B. Treat, resident mining engi-

neer.
