Gratifying Figures For January

Tin stocks rose by 2158 tons during January. According to A. Strauss and Co., the visible supply increased by only 116 tons to 19,828 tons. But the carry forward in the Straits is up by 1,445, and that at the Arnhem Smelter by 712 tons. The total expansion is, therefore, 2,158 tons, and world stocks now amount to 24,959 tops.

Deliveries at 11,432 tons were quite good. The United States took 7,615 tons against 6.930 in the previous month, and there was an improvement also in de- Hveries in Holland and the Con- tinent. Supplies during January about 30 tons lower than those in December.
