Hong Kong, Feb. 26.. The price for Ready Silver rose 1/16 yesterday but the Forward rate was "unchanged, the quota- tions being 20 1/8 and 20 1/16 res- pectively. Silver advices reported China as having sold. India and the American trade bought. The market. closed stendy. After the oficial fixing American traders were ati inclined to buy. In America Sliver was quoted at 44 3/4 Spot.

The London-New York crosa- rate was quoted at 488.59. New York-London was quoted at 488 31/32.

U.S. DOLLARS Nothing doing. There were sel- sels at 30 3/8 February-April and probably May and 30 5/16 June, buyers at 30 7/18 for any delivery.

SHANGHAI DOLLARS Business was done at 102 3/16 for cash. There were sellers at 102 1/8. buyers at 102 1/4 for cash. SHANGHAI MARKET There were sellers of Sterling at 1/2 19/32 February, buyers at 1/2 5/8 for cash. U.S. Dollars at 29 11/18February, buyers probably at 29 3/4 for cash.

The "Canton Dally Sun" reports that the Canton Mayor's sugges- tion for the floating of $7,000,000 in bonds to cover expenses for the development of the Whampoa Har- bour has been approved by the Central Government. The bonds will be issued shortly.
