SAYS ABOUT ANOTHER
To the Editor, The Hong Kong "Daily Press.”]·
Having had the occasion of writing the racing tips for your esteemed Journal in the past, it has lately, become a source of fun to me to pull your "tip"-storical legs every now and then,, implying that the tipa now emanating from the pen of "Last Quarter" are not so hot etc, etc. .
The same joke was repeated at last Saturday's meeting, and having got your proprietor properly or the raw, he retaliated by saying. "You won't tip for us--then why the-why don't you get us a worthy substitute?" I replied that 'would, and what was more, would get him right there and then as I knew he was on the course.
The Chief was delighted and told me he would wait to be i
in- troduced.
I got hold of the party telling him hurriedly that I had a paying proposition for him, and introduced him thusly:"Here, Chief, is the only man I raise my hat to on the course, as I think without doubt that he is the best informed judge of race horses in Hong Kong. Nobody barred. Allow me to introduce
The Chlef shook my friend warmly by the hand and in a shaky voice asked:-"Will you do us the honour of being our Racing Correspondent?" To which my friend replied:-"Thank you very much, but it so happens that that is precisely what I am doing-under the name of "Last Quarter.'"
