THE CAT CAME HOME!

Strange Shipping Story

The Blue Star ship Stuart Star, R vessel of 11,928 tons. had a ship's cat. She had # considerable affection for the bos'n and usually slept in his room.

When the ship was off Cockatoo Island.near Sydney, Australia, the cat went ashore, or else a calling on some neighbouring ship's cat.

And when the Stuart Stay up- anchored there was no ship's cat.

Stuart Star docked in the Royal Albert Dock on January 14: and on January 20 the cat came aboard.

From Cockatoo Island to London a little matter of 11,221 miles ör therebouts,

There isn't the slightest doubt that it was the old original pussy every man aboard the ship will swear to it.

The Only Explanation When the cat came on board he went straight down to the bos'n's cabin looking for him.

"Alas! he had been put ashore at Fremantle with appendicitis and pussy was not satisfied until shè nad searched the whole ship to make sure he wasn't there.

How did the cat get home? And how in the world did she find the old ship?

Captain 7. Sinclair, master the Stuart Star, said:

"The

theory is that the cat boarded the SS. Themistocles (11.231 tons) or a Commonwealth and Dominion liner in Australia, and as we all arrived in London about the same time she then re- cognised her old home."

That seems the only possible ex- planation. But how did the cat know which ship was London bound and which wasn't? And how did she manage to find the Stuart Star?
