The Gerler Service was last held In 1914. It was reviewed by King George V in 1911 after an interval of 106 years and was held each year until the War. It is the custom on the occasion of this service for the Knights to as- semble in the Waterloo Chamber and then, headed by the King and Queen, to proceed down the Lower Ward to the chapel, the whole of the route being lined by troops.
