That the completion of the arma- ments programme will be the chief concern of the British Government until after the Coronation and in- stallation of the new Cabinet, and ail activities of an internal and political nature are being post- poned until after this time la the consensus of opinion of the Br- tish press. For this reason it "is not expected that the visit of the German Ambassador, Herr Von Ribbentrop to Lord Halifax this week will lead to any immediate action.
There is a small probability that proposals either from the British or German side will be mentioned, the "Dally Telegraph" holding the view that the conference will be principally for the purpose of "taking an inventory."

An ordinance has been drawn up reducing the rubber export duty.
The proposed alterations in levy- ing export duty are as follows:-
When the average price of Java standard sheets is less than twenty cents per half kilo, no duty wil be levied.
When the price is over twenty and below twenty one cents, the duty will be one cent
When the price is over twenty one but under twenty two cents, 1/1 cents will be levied and for each additional full cent over the price of twenty one. 1.1 cents will be added to the duty.
As the basis of calculation, the average price between October 1, 1936 and January 1, 1937 will be taken as the average price for 1958. -Reuter.
