SOCIETY

Talk On "Future For You And Me"

Last Thursday Mr. D. K. Paul gave a lecture on the "Future for You and Me" at the local Theoso- phical Society, 13 Chater Road. He said that it was not his in- tention to forecast future events on this globe as he was no seer. but was going to take the oppor-. 'tunity of quoting the iterature of

some of the great Theosophists,

"To those who had not the Inner Vision there seemed nothing cer- tain about the life of man except that at a certain time he was born and about seventy years later he died. Despite the lack of certain- ty as to man's existence before and after these events on the part of Science; Religion seemed united in theosophy in stating that there was a life greater and beyond the fleeting physical life. Lending Theosophists who had written of their teaching from Greater Ones. their own experiences and their own visions, were perfectly certain -and.

In fact, were always ex- periencing this higher transcend- ing Life..

The body of the lecture con- tained an absorbing description of these "after-death" or "re-birth" or shortly, "heaven-life" condi- tions.

New Names For Sloops

A new nomenċature for vessels hitherto termed Loops is an- nounced in Admiralty Fleet Orders issued last month. "Patrol sloops" and "convoy escorts" will in future be known as "escort vessels." The present "sloop minesweepers" will te renamed "minesweepers.", The present coastal sloops" will be known as "patrol vessels. "'*

The term "loop" in the old sailing Navy denoted a vessel of the next smaller size to a frigate. and after the advent of steam it was applied to vessels which" were larger than gunboats. At the outbreak of the War the only sloops in seagoing commission were the Espiegle and Odin in the.
