Entries for the annual tennis championships, organised by the Hong Kong Cricket Club, have been open for some time now and en- quiries from Mr. A. K. Mackenzie, the popular Hon. Secretary of the II.K.C.C. elicited the information that the entries close on Saturday, February 6, at 6 p.m. The tourns- ment will start on March 1.

FOURTH TEST MATCH

England Only 42 Runs Ahead:

Australia 61 For 1

A disastrous change set in during the third day's play in the Fourth Test when Engind, resuming with their overnight score of 174 for 2 collapsed badly and were all dismissed for 330. This gave them a lead of 42 runs.'

Australia commenced their second innings and at close of play had made 61 for 1, Fingleton being out for 12 with the total at 21. Brown (23) and Bradman (26) remaining together until the close. P

Barnett, played a sturdy knock for 129 and be midjudged a ball from Fleetwood-Smith which hit his pads, while Allen later on was dis- missed in a similar way by the same bowler.

"Whlie Fleetwood-Smith 'captured four wickets for 128. O'Reilly had a better average, taking the same number of wickets for $1. McCor- mick took the remaining two wickets for 81.

THE PLAY

Adelaide, Feb. 1. When the fourth Test match was resumed here this morning, there was a crowd of 25.000 present. The weather was warm and sunny, and the wicket appeared to be suscep- tible to spin bowling. To-day is a public holiday. being. "Australia Day."

The bewildering change in the complexion of the game inspired the Australian felders, who crowd-' ed in near the wicket, whilst the batsmen were strictly defensive in play. Scoring was very slow, the 200 being registered after 288 minutes' play.

It was announced before play started that McCormick, the Aus- tralian fast bowler, was no longer suffering from his finger Injury,
