Uttering A Forged Dollar Note
Wong Yip 31, unemployed, was brought before Mr. E. Himsworth at the Kowloon Magistracy yester day on charges of uttering two forged Hong Kong Government $1 -notes at two different places at Shanghal Street, and the posses- alon of twelve forged notes.
-Det.-Inspector A. H. Elston, who prosecuted, said that defendant, on January 31, went into a shop at Bakery Street and, bought a pac- ket of cigarettes. He tendered a forged note in payment. The shop owner, Leung Chuen, on close ex- amination, found that the note was not a genuine one, and he hurried to recall defendant to change it. When he got into the street he saw that the defendant was buying something from an- other shop, not far away. He wait ed, and when defendant came out he informed a constable and ar- rested defendant.
Inquiries were made at the see- and shop and it was found that defendant had also uttered a for- ged note there.
Sgt. J. G. Witcroft, attached to !the Treasury, gave evidence and said that the notes were not gen- tine.

Sgt. Stewart said that defen- dant was seen by the store watch- man at 5.45 am, on January 26, in the act of taking the articles away. When he realised that be was discovered he attempted to run, but was caught by the watch- man.

Defendant said that he lived at No. 78. Stone Nullah Lane, ground floor, and on January 21. he stole the chickens and tried to sell them to a woman at Stanley. Not being able to dispose of them, he killed one and ate it, and turned the other two loose.

THEFT OF BICYCLE
Pun Ying-tsoi, alias Pun Sun-fo, 30, unemployed who stole a push bicycle which belonged to the Sun Fat bicycle shop was arrested and charged with the offence at the Kowloon Police Court yesterday.
Bub. Inspector Cunningham said that defendant stole the bicycle which was left by someone in a street,, and sold it to a foki of the Jade Tree for the sum of $8.
Defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six weeks' hard labour, and ordered to repay the $6 to the fok, falling which he would have to serve two weeks' imprisonment. The bicycle was ordered to be restored to its dwner.
